FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can I pick my kid's team?

December 12, 2016

At HBIC, we strive to make all teams fair and family-friendly. We do our best to try and honor parents' busy schedules by placing children within one family all on the same practice night (when possible). In years past, we have also honored parent requests to place their children on teams with friends or carpool options. However, as our league grows, this becomes increasingly difficult and has, at times, created teams that are unbalanced. Therefore, this year, we will honor EITHER same nights for siblings or carpool/friend options. We will not be able to guarantee that kids choose their coaches (unless the coach is the child's parent). Thank you in advance for your cooperation in this matter.

Will the older girls be able to play 7 v. 7?

December 18, 2017

Each year we prayerfully consider what kinds of upgrades to make to our league. We do this based on parent feedback at the end of the previous season, our past year's participation (number of players), and our current season's resources. Last year we were able to field a girls' division for players in 3-5th grades. We are hoping to see those number grow this season. Based on past participation, we will continue to offer the traditional 4 v. 4 option for older girls. However, should this year's numbers allow for larger teams, we will prayerfully consider it. It is our desire to move our league toward that end. As with any part of our league, please feel free to contact our Upward Team, with any questions or concerns.

How Can I Help?

December 12, 2022

Parent volunteers are very important to our program. We ask each family to donate one hour of their time during the course of the season (that's one hour over 10 weeks). We have a wide variety of options to fit every family's schedule. Without your help, we cannot make our program run. This season, you will be able to sign up for your choice of volunteer area when you come in for Evaluation Day or you can sign up online via this link (once registration is open).

What is the Time Commitment?

September 29, 2017

Our league is run by 100% volunteers. Therefore, our practice schedules depend on our coaches' availability and are not determined prior to the start of the league. Practice nights are either Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. Practices times will vary, but most begin somewhere between 5:00 and 6:00 in the evening. Practices last one hour and are held one day per week. Approximately two weeks prior to the season, your child's coach will contact you and let you know about your practice day and time.

Where are games and practices?

December 12, 2016

Upward Soccer at HBIC is a self-contained league. There is no travel required. All games and practices are held at our church fields, located at 2600 Marietta Ave. in Lancaster. Teams in our league do not travel.
